Sculpting using unusual materials

These see-through models of a fisherman, jelly fish and pregnant woman – all made from sticky tape – are entries in an art competition.
They are made by either sticking pieces of tape together in a “free-form” style or by wrapping them around objects which are then removed from the piece.
The fisherman and pregnant woman each tape a modest four rolls of tape to complete. However, a drum set is made from a staggering 48 rolls and an office desk is made from 36.
There are also models of a dragon, a postman and a child on a swing.
Other materials are allowed in very small quantities, such as cardboard, wire and pain, so long as they are only used to support or enhance the sculpture.
The models were made using Scotch packaging tape and the winning entry is to receive £3,200 when judging takes place next month.
Darrell Coutu, from Scotch, said: “The contest provides an opportunity for people to showcase their originality using a unique art medium.
“The strength and durability of Scotch Packaging Tape has inspired artists to create some amazing entries, from jellyfish and octopuses to peacocks and pop icons.
“The judges have a tough decision to make, and I don’t envy them one bit.”
